Princess Emily

Happy Hump Day!!! Today is going to be another busy day. Trying to get everything done before the snow starts flying here in Maine.

Today I decided to make a scrapbook page. The photo is of my daughter Emily from when we went to Disneyland this past March. We had such a good time. I have always wanted to go to Disneyland. It just took quite a few years more than I had expected.

Emily wanted to get dressed up at Cinderella's Castle. She got pampered and glittered. She looks so grown up in this photo.

The photo mat was created by using the Arch Lattice border punch (Martha Stewart) and also using the Cricut Expression with the Wild Card cartridge. The "Cutie Pie" stamp is from the Tiny Words set by JustRite Stampers. I stamped "Princess Emily" by using the Curlz Font ensemble also by JustRite Stampers and diecut them using the Spellbinders Long Scallop Rectangles.

That's it for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Supplies:

Stamps: JustRite Tiny Words, 1 3/16" wood stamper, Curlz Font Ensemble, new Vertical wood stamper

Paper: Imaginisce Pretty New Dress, DCWV yellow, white CS

Ink: Versamagic Pink Grapefruit

Accessories: Spellbinders Long Classic Scallop Rectangles, Heidi Swapp flowers, Cricut Wild Card Cartridge, 1 1/4" circle punch, mini heart punch, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch, glue dots, foam dots, Kaiser pearls

Spring

Happy Tuesday everyone!!! The weather has been so nice here in Maine. It has been warm & sunny. I wish it could be like this all winter long, however Maine winters are not "warm & sunny". Maybe my wishful thinking was the thought behind my card today. My husband and I just planted lots and lots of perennials and I am looking forward to everything blooming in the Spring.

My card was inspired by this week's sketch challenge at CPS. Be sure to head on over and give it a try. Sketches are fun & easy ways to create cards.

My Iris image (Northwoods Rubber Stamps) is stamped onto Neenah white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using Copic Markers. The image and mats are diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle & Classic Scallop Circle Nestabilities. Once my image was diecut, I chalked the white spaces using Pebbles Inc Pearlescent Chalk. Each layer is put together using pop dots to give my image some extra dimension.

My card base has layers of yellow & purple cardstock. The top purple layer was embossed using the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder. To finish off the card, I added Kaiser Pearls to each corner of the card.

My sentiment "Thank You" is from the Laurel Set by Martha Stewart. It is stamped onto yellow cardstock using Versamagic Purple Hydrangea ink and diecut using Spellbinders Classic Scallop oval Nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. I really appreciate your visits.

Friends

Happy Monday morning to everyone!!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Saturday we had my inlaws over for a BBQ. It was a gorgeous day. Then on Sunday we took our daughter to see the movie Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs. It was a pretty funny movie. It rained all day so what better thing to do then go to the movies.

Today's card is inspired by Taylor's sketch challenge from Friday. It was a lot of fun to play along. Taylor always has great sketches to follow.

My card measures 6" x 5" and has several layers. My focal image is from the Friendship Set by JustRite Stampers. I stamped the center image onto Neenah white cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it using my Copic markers. Once the coloring was done, I took some Pebbles Ink yellow chalk and covered up the white cardstock. It helped to blend everything together. My border is stamped onto Worldwin Totally Tan cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa. My image and border were diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. Please be sure to stop back tomorrow for more projects.

Christmas Snowflakes

My card today is inspired by Taylor's sketch challenge at TayloredExpressions. I thought it was a really cute sketch but I did struggle with it trying to figure out what I could use for the 9 little spots.

If there was ever a vote to change the traditional Christmas colors from Red & Green to Blue & White, I would definately change it. I love this color combination. Even my Christmas tree has blue lights with white garland. I just think these colors are very elegant looking.

As I was going through my paper stash, I found some snowflake paper in the DCWV Christmas Stack. It was perfect for cutting out little circles. Then all I needed to do was diecut some white mats using the Spellbinders Labels Three.

My sentiment is from the Something Sweet Borders & Centers by JustRite Stampers and was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities.

That's it. Very simple, yet pretty card. Check out Taylor's blog and give her sketch challenges a try. They are really fun.

Thanks for stopping in today. Enjoy you day.

Stamps: JustRite Stampers - Something Sweet Borders & Centers

Paper: DCWV Christmas Stack, Worldwin

Fall Pinecones

Happy Monday everyone!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I spent part of my weekend digging potatoes from the garden. There is nothing like fresh potatoes!!! They are soooo YUMMY.

My card for today is inspired by Sharon Johnson's stamp simply challenge on Friday. This card fits into the challenge fairly well because it only took me about 10 minutes to put it all together. That's my idea of simple!!
Here are the details of the challenge:
CAS/BIO — So what’s THAT mean? Clean and Simple, Black Ink Only OR Brown Ink Only. So clean and simple in style, with only ONE ink, black or brown, and NO coloring. We’ve done something similar before, but this time we are adding in the clean and simple element as well and allowing either black or brown ink. ANY papers or embellishmemts are A-OK. The idea here is to keep our effort to a minimum by doing CAS and limiting inks and omitting coloring, but allowing our papers and embellishments to give our project the POP and pizzazz. Have fun with this one!

Sharon always has great challenges and this one was great for me because I didn't need to color!!! I am new to the coloring thing so I am still learning. As I always tell my kids - "Practice Makes Perfect". I just need lots more practice.

My focal image is a Pinecone stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps. I love pinecones. I think I must get that love from my grandmother. She also loves pinecones. Regardless of where I travel (Aruba, Florida or even here in Maine), I always look for pinecones to bring home to my collection. My husband just rolls his eyes when I gather more pinecones.

My image is stamped onto ivory cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa and diecut using Spellbinders Large Classic Inverted Scallop Square Nestabilities. The mat was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Square Nestabilities.

The light tan layer was embossed using the Cuttlebug Forest Branches folder and then I added 3 score lines below using my Scor-Pal. The fence was cut using my Martha Stewart picket fence border punch.

My sentiment was stamped onto light tan cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and diecut using Spellbinders Double Ended tags and attached to my card with brown brads.

JustRite Mega Font Blog Hop

Welcome to the first ever JustRite Font Blog Hop. This is a 2 day event. If you missed yesterday, go to the end of this post and check out these amazing and talented ladies.

I have always had fun with the font sets. I think it is because there is no coloring involved and everyone loves to get something personalized. At first the tiny letters were intimidating but after using them for a while it got much easier.

Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of my post for a "mystery surprise" and a sale.

For today's project, I chose to make a scrapbook page showing all the school year pictures of my oldest daughter Heather. She is now a Junior at college. Time flies by so fast. I look back at these photos and can't believe that it has been that many years ago.

All of the photo frames use the Small Letter Set mounted onto the 1 5/8" wood stamper. After each frame was stamped, I diecut them using the Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities. The blue and white scalloped mats were diecut using the Spellbinders Petite Scallop Nestabilities.

This is the view of the back of my stamper. The letters are very easy to put into the grooves and they stay there until you take them out. For Heather's Elementary School pictures, I was able to keep the bottom portion of my stamper the same for all 9. For her High School photos, I only had to load the school name once for all 4 years. All I had to do was to change the top half of my stamper. This makes it very easy to do fast, multiple stamping.

The center photo is Heather's Senior Yearbook photo. The labels "Senior" and "Dirigo High" were stamped using the Times Roman 50 pt font, diecut using the Spellbinders Tags 5, and attached to the page using brads.

To finish off the page, I added Kaiser rhinestones on each side of the photo frames.

JustRite is celebrating their Mega Font Hop (a 2 Day Event with 54 designers)in style with a Super7 Day Font Sale. Take 30% off all JustRite font sets and the Horizontal and Veritical Font Stampers. Sale begins Sept 17th and ends Sept 24th. Don't miss out on this terrific opportunity. A word of advice - be sure to buy more than 1 of each set. Reason being is that if you load a stamper with a particulary phrase, you may want to keep it on the stamper for future use. So if you have more that 1 set of a particular font, you will always have the letters you need.

There is Mystery Blog Candy being given away during the Two Day Just Rite Font Blog Hop!!! Why is it a Mystery.....well there will be 3 blog candy giveaways on each day and you can only win by leaving a comment on the right blog! Always & Forever

Today's card was inspired by the CPS sketch for this week. I really like using card sketches to create cards. I especially liked this sketch because it is not the normal card size. My card size is 7" wide x 4" tall.

My sentiment is from the Wedding Ensemble by JustRite Stampers. It is stamped onto ivory cardstock using Versamagic Aegean Blue ink and diecut using Spellbinders Labels Four. This particular Spellbinders set goes very well with the Martha Stewart Upper Crest border punch which is what I used above and below the stamped sentiment.

The wide lace behind my sentiment is some that I have had "forever". I don't even remember where it came from but it worked well with this card. To finish off my card, I added Kaiser rhinestones along the punched border.

The countdown has begun to the JustRite Stampers Mega Font blog hop. It begins on Thursday and ends on Friday. Be sure to check it out - the inspiration is going to be unbelievable and there is going to be "candy" given away to some lucky bloggers.

Thanks for stopping in today.

Thanksgiving Table

While I was shopping at Michaels, I spotted this set of 2 place card holders and thought they were so cute. And the best part was they were in the DOLLAR BIN. These cute little pumpkins could be used any time of the year. They could be used to hold a photo of your family at the Thanksgiving table. You could put a photo of your child picking out the "perfect pumpkin" at the pumpkin patch. The possibilities are endless and it only cost a dollar for 2!!!!

My stamped image is from the Favorite Occasions set by JustRite Stampers and colored using Copic Markers. The center image was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circles. The mats were also diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle as well as Classic Scallop Circle Nestabilities. To stamp my name, I used the 25 point Curlz Font (also JustRite).

This place card holder came together very quickly and easily. Just think how beautiful your Thanksgiving table would look with one of these at each setting. Be sure to take a photo of everyone at the table and then your guest could use that photo in their place card holder when they got home as a reminder of the wonderful time spent with family.

Once I made the box & the cartons, I filled them with jelly beans (also a favorite of my mom).

Snowflake Penguin

Before I begin my post today, I would like to take this moment to remember all of the people lost during 9/11/01. I remember exactly where I was that day as I watched the TV reports of the terrorists attacks on our country. I was at work and thinking about my 1 year old daughter who was at daycare and my older daughter who was in school. I wanted to go get them and take them home where they would be safe. I kept thinking that these parents had also left their children that morning not knowing that they were never going to see them again. I just cannot even imagine the pain and suffering that happened to those families on that horrible day 8 years ago. I ask that everyone take a moment today and hug your family members because we never know if that will be the last time.
Now onto my card. Today I am playing along with the "Ways To Use It" challenge on Splitcoast stampers. The challenge was to use red, red & more red. I am not much of a "red" person except around Christmas time. I always associate red with Santa/Christmas. So today's card is not a Christmas card but close to it, it is a winter card.

This little penguin is so adorable. It is a paper line from Murdock Country Creations called Peppermint Penguins. I just cut him into a square and then matted him onto some polished stone paper (also from Murdock Country Creations) and white cardstock.

My stamped sentiment is from the Merry Little Christmas stamp set by JustRite Stampers. I stamped the image twice - once on Crimson Red cardstock and again on white cardstock. The snowflake was diecut using SU 1 1/4" scallop punch and the border was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities. The white scallop mat was cut using Spellbinders Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

To finish off my card, I added snowflake ribbon from American Crafts along the edge.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. My day is going to be busy. My name was drawn to be possibly chosen to sit on a court jury. I have always wanted to do this so I hope I get chosen today. I think it would be so interesting to be part of a jury.

I'll let you know what the outcome is.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Let It Snow (not really :)

I really like to make winter cards & projects. One might think that I like winter however that would be incorrect. I think that I was meant to live in a warm climate all year long. However here in Maine we get lots and lots and lots of snow. Snow is pretty when it is falling but when it hits the ground it just means work for me (shoveling, shoveling, & more shoveling).

Okay that's enough of my complaining about snow. Now on to today's card.

I really like the blue and white color combination for winter/Christmas projects. That must be the reason that my Christmas tree always has blue twinkle lights with white garland.

My focal image is from the Christmas Treasures Borders & Centers set by JustRite Stampers. This cardinal is just so cute perched on its birdhouse trying to stay warm in the cold winter months. The image is stamped onto Neenah white cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored using Copic markers. I diecut it using Spellbinders Classic Circles and matted it on 2 layers of Spellbinders Scallop Circle Nestabilities mats.

To get the snow effect, I punched a white strip of paper using the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo border punch and added crystal Stickles.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.

Origami Christmas Box

Every year for Christmas, I make Peanut Butter Balls. I got the recipe from my mom. She has been making them for several years so when I needed Christmas gift ideas she suggested that I make her peanut butter balls. Of course they were a huge hit with my husband's family members. So now it is "expected" at Christmas time. I have been asked to make them at other times of the year but I just let them know that it is a Christmas treat ONLY.

So the peanut butter balls are the inspiration for my project today. I am always trying to come up with creative packaging for my gifts. These little origami boxes are fast and easy to make. I found the tutorial for these on Splitcoast. This box uses a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock but if you need smaller boxes just adjust the cardstock size.

For my box I wanted a clear window to show the treats inside. To do this, I used the Spellbinders Labels One to cut out the window and also to make the green frame around the window.

For my stamped image I used several stamps from JustRite Stampers. The "Holiday Sweets For You" is from the Holiday Demi Phrases set. The "2009" & "Love The Barkhouse's" is the Times Roman 15 point font set that also comes with the 2" wood stamper & bonus flower center. Finally, the center image is from the What's Cookin' Borders & Centers set. The border image was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities and the center image was diecut using Spellbinders Petite Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

Here is the back view of my wood stamper. The 15 point font fits perfectly into the outer grooves. Because the 2" wood stamper has a double border groove, I was able to include the year as well as our family name. Without the double groove this would not have been possible because of the length of our last name.

To finish off my box, I adhered narrow strips of paper and decorative ribbon around the center
of the box and added a little bow.

The JustRite Stamp sets are so versatile and interchangeable. The Demi Phrases can be used on either the round or oval wood stampers depending on how you want your image to appear. The font sets work really well around the outer edge of the wood stampers. It makes personalizing packages and gifts very simple to do. I believe that people appreciate a personalized gift much more than store-bought packaging.

For anyone interested, here is the recipe for the peanut butter balls:

2 cups peanut butter
2 lbs confectioners sugar
4 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. margarine (do not use butter)
Mix everything in a large bowl. Roll into small balls and place onto a wax covered cookie sheet. Place somewhere cold to harden the balls.
In a double-boiler, melt 1 1/2 (12 oz.) packages of chocolate bits and 1 piece of parafin wax. Dip peanut butter balls into melted mixture. Place back onto the wax covered cookie sheet. Once cooled, it is best to keep either in the refrigerator or the freezer so that they don't get too soft.
Enjoy!!!

Precious Teddy

Today I am playing along with one of the challenges for the 1 year birthday bash celebrating Cuppie at Taylored Expressions. The challenge is to do Paper Tole on your card. I have never done this technique before so I thought it would be a good challenge for me to do. It is actually kinda fun to make.

The postage stamp looking mats were cut using my Cricut Expression along with the Base Camp cartridge. I added Kaiser rhinestones around the edges to give it a girly look. Then I wrapped white ribbon around both corners and added bows.

I stamped my teddy bear 3 times (2 times on tan cardstock & 1 time on the pink polka dot paper). The first image is cut as is. The 2nd tan teddy I cut and popped her arms. I used 2 layers of pop dots because I wanted a lot of height. The 3rd teddy I only cut the paw pads and ears. To finish off my teddy, I wrapped a nice little bow around her neck.

My sentiment comes from the Baby Stamp Ensemble by JustRite Stampers. It is stamped onto white cardstock using Brilliance Pearescent Orchid and diecut using Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities.

I think my little teddy came out really cute. The paper tole was not as difficult as I thought it might be.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. Be sure to check back tomorrow for more inspiration.

Happy Birthday Ma

I made this card today for my grandmother's birthday. My grandmother and I are very close. She has got to be one of the nicest, sweetest people I have ever known. When I was a kid, I would spend every weekend at her house. On Saturday's we would go shopping with her two sisters. That must be where I learned my "need to shop". Now that I am an adult, I still remain very close to her. I even live next door to her so I can "keep an eye on her". Isn't it funny how the roles reverse as you get older.

As you can probably tell, my grandmothers favorite color is pink. I always try to make her cards in some shade of pink. She will keep this card forever along with everything else that I have ever made for her. She recently showed me a letter that I had written to her back when I was around 8 years old. I had written a sympathy letter to her because she had to have her beloved dog laid to rest. It was a very sad time in her life but I am glad that my letter brought her comfort.

This card is also based on Taylor's sketch challenge. I love sketch challenges because it made coming up with a card idea much easier. I really like this sketch because it is very simple looking which fits my grandmother perfect.

I used my Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder to emboss the white mat.

My sentiment was made using the Celebrations Demi Phrases from JustRite as well as the Curlz font and Times Roman 25 point font. The font sets are so perfect for making personalized cards. This helped me to write exactly what I wanted to say to my grandmother.

I diecut my sentiment using the Spellbinders Classic Circles & Scallop Circle Nestabilities. Each layer has popdots between them to give it lots of dimension.

Of course the ribbon had to be pink as well as the Kaiser rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit. I hope everyone enjoys your long weekend. We will be doing some long overdue landscaping around our house.

Best Wishes For an Old Fashioned Christmas

Today's card was inspired by the Sketch Challege at Splitcoaststampers yesterday. I can't believe that I am making another Christmas card. I am going to have enough cards for the next 2 Christmases.

My focal image is from the Old Fashioned Christmas set by JustRite Stampers. This set comes with designer borders and centers however I chose to only use the center for this card. I stamped the image on Neenah white cardstock and colored it with my Copic Markers.

To make my "wreath" around the outer edge, I masked my focal image and then used the Rubberstamp Tapestry Gingerbread Wreath peg stamps to stamp my wreath. Then I diecut the image with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities. The two mats were diecut using Spellbinders Classic Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

I added white glitter ribbon around the outer edge of the designer paper and added red polka dot ribbon along the bottom edge of the card.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. Don't forget that I am the guest blogger on the JustRite Stampers blog this week. Be sure to check out the cool projects that I have posted over there.

It's finally here!!!! The first day school. The summer (if we can call it that) went by so fast. We didn't really start getting warm weather around here until a few weeks ago.

My youngest daughter starts 4th grade today. She is very excited and had a really hard time getting to sleep last night.

I made this card for her to start her day off right. The "STOP" sign is made using Spellbinders Octogon Nestabilities. The word "STOP" was stamped using JustRite Brayton 50 point font. The "and have fun in 4th grade" was stamped using JustRite Times Roman 25 point font.

I'm excited for her to start 4th grade and I can't wait till she gets off the bus this afternoon and tells me about her first day of school.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. I really appreciate it.

JustRite Guest Blogger - Sneak Peak

This week I am the guest blogger on the JustRite Stampers blog. I am soooo excited. I have loved these stamps since I was first introduced to them.

I have some nice gift giving ideas that are fairly easy to make. I know that my family and friends really like getting handmade items for gifts.
Be sure to check back each day this week for more inspiration

Coach Purse

I made this purse for my 20 year old daughter a while ago. She had wanted a coach purse but not many people have hundreds of dollars to spend on a purse!! So I made her a "coach purse".

Needless to say she wasn't impressed with the imitation purse **LOL**

I found the template here for the purse and then just adapted it to my own needs. I used the "C" stamp from JustRite Stampers and also spelled out her name "Heather" using JustRite stamps.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. School starts here tomorrow. Hooray!!!! My youngest is very excited to be going into 4th grade. We will see how excited she will be getting up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.
