Golfer Cake

Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.  Mine has been very busy.  In my last post, I mentioned that I needed to make a cake for my father in law's 75th birthday.  He is an avid golfer so I knew it had to have a golf theme.  So I searched the internet and found a really cute golf cake.  I knew that I should be able to duplicate it - I just didn't realize how long it would take to do it!!  I think it came out really nice though.  Below is a photo of it:

I am not a professional cake decorator by any stretch of the imagination.  I just like to dabble in it for family events.  I had a very hard time finding cake decorations that were for golf.  I went to AC Moore and Michaels.  Finally I had decided that I would have to use stickers and "make it work".  Then I walked around the next corner and on a clearance aisle there was to golf decorations!!!   I was so excited.  The golf cart is a Jolee's sticker though just held up by a toothpick.

Everyone at the party thought it was really nice and that it tasted even better!!

Have a great day!!

JustRite Sketch Challenge -JRC_020

Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone has big plans for the long Memorial weekend.  We are attending my father in laws 75th birthday party on Saturday.  I was asked to make the cake and since he is a big golfer, I found a cute cake that I am going to "try" to replicate.  If it come out nice I will post some photos.

Today I am playing along with the JustRite Friday Challenge - which this week happens to be a sketch challenge sponsored by Copic Markers.  These markers are AWESOME!!  Even as someone who isn't very good yet at coloring, I love my Copics!!!

I chose a designer center from the "Friendship" set by JustRite, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders.  My sentiment "Family" is the Curlz Font Ensemble (50 point) also by JustRite.  I added a row of hearts using the Martha Stewart Lace Heart border punch.

Welcome Baby Owen

Good morning everyone.  Today I have an adorable baby card that I made for an upcoming baby shower that I am invited to.  I cased this card that I found on Becca Feeken's blog.  She has an amazing creative imagination.  The family knows that their baby is going to be a boy so I decided to use lots of blue.

The baby carriage was created using Spellbinders Classic Circles.  The wheels were created using SU circle punches.  The lace was created with SU Scallop Edge border punch.  The carriage handle was made with my Cricut Expression and Accent Essentials cartridge.

To dress the card up a bit, I embossed the blue mats using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  Kaiser pearls were added in each corner as well as on the carriage wheels.

The baby's mom has already decided on his name so I wanted to make sure to personalize the card to make it more special.  I used the 15 point Times Roman font along with the 2 3/8" round stamper by JustRite.  I think personalizing cards makes it so much better.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers - Times Roman 15 Point font, 2 3/8" round stamper

Good morning everyone.  This must be the week of sketch challenges because I have another one today.  This sketch challenge is over at CPS.  I really liked the looks of this sketch.  There are so many things that can be done with this.  I am going to save this sketch for future use.

I flipped the sketch for my card.  I stamped my image, colored it with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders.  I embossed the white layers with Cuttlebug embossing folders.  All I had for rhinestones were crystal, so Copics to my rescue!!!  I colored them with the same green that I colored my image with.  These markers are so cool!!!

JustRite Challenge - Kid's Cards

Good Morning everyone.  Today I am playing along with the JustRite Friday Challenge - which is to create a Kid's Card.  The new JustRite stamp set called "Let's Celebrate" is perfect for kids as well as the adult kids that we all have in our families!!

Isn't this little monkey cute!!!  He is from the "Let's Celebrate" square centers & borders set.  I stamped him with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Square Nestabilities.  The yellow mat is diecut with Spellbinders Large Classic Inverted Scallop Squares.

To create the "Happy Birthday" I used a border from this set and then just punched out the portion that I needed using SU Punch Word Window.  The banana in the lower right hand side was created using my Cricut Expression and the Animal Kingdom cartridge.  For both bananas I applied Glossy Accents to make them shine.

Be sure to play along with the JustRite weekly challenges.  Here are the rules:

The golf bag image is colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Petite Ovals Nestabilities.  The golf balls on the sides were created by embossing white cardstock with the Cuttlebug Mesh embossing folder and a circle punch.  The "grass" along the border was created with the Martha Stewart Icicles border punch.

Ma's Notes

Good morning everyone.  Today I have a simple yet pretty project to share with you.  I purchased this cute notepad at Michaels in the Dollar Bin.  It was cute but I knew that I could make it cuter!!

I decided that I would make this for my grandmother.  Her favorite color is pink so I knew that I had to go "very pink".

To begin, I pulled out my Cotton Candy Stickles and "blinged" it up!  I applied Stickles around every cut-out on the notepad.

Next, I applied some really pretty pink lace along the left edge of the notepad, colored some Kaiser pearls with a pink Copic marker and applied them.  To personalize this, I used my JustRite Curlz Font along with a border from the JustRite Joyful Hearts set, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Ovals and Scallop Ovals Nestabilities.

I think this came out really cute and and it was really inexpensive to create.  I'm sure that my grandmother is going to love it!!

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a wonderful day!!

CPS Sketch Challenge 166

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!  I hope everyone has big plans for today.  We are having everyone over to our house for a cook-out.  I'm thinking that it might be a "cook in" because it is going to be windy & chilly.  Oh, well it will still be nice to have everyone here.

Today I am playing along with the CPS Sketch Challenge sponsored by JustRite Stampers.  I needed one more Mother's Day card for my mother in law and this sketch worked out well for that.
I used JustRite Curlz Font ensemble to create  "MuM" and a border from one of the new sets just released called "Applique".  I double inked the images (Memento Rich Cocoa for the center and Memento Bamboo Leaves for the border).  Then I colored the border with Copics, diecut with Spellbinders Labels One and then edged with Copic.
To create my flower, I cut several different sizes of flowers using my Cricut Expression along with the Walk In My Garden Cartridge and layered them together with pop dots.  Then I used the Curlz Font ensemble again to create my sentiment "Happy Mother's Day".  Next I diecut it with Spellbinders Pinking Circles and edged it with a Copic.
To create the arrow from the sketch, I applied Kaiser pearls.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day and enjoys time spent with your moms.

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers - Applique Borders and Centers, Curlz Font Ensemble

JustRite Challenge - Inexpensive Gifts

Today I am playing along with the challenge over at JustRite.  The challenge is to create inexpensive gift ideas that are simple and easy to make.  I saw these baskets made on StampTV.  Talk about EASY to make!!  It only took about 1/2 hour total to create one of these - including coloring the images.
I decided to make these baskets for my daughter Emily to give her teachers/principals at the end of the school year.  I'm not sure yet what I will put inside the baskets but I have some time to think it over.
For this basket, I chose a floral center and border from "Breath of Spring" set by JustRite Stampers.  It is stamped with Memento, colored with Copic markers and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestabilities.

For this basket, I used a center from the Friendship Borders and Centers set by JustRite Stampers.  It is stamped using Memento Rich Cocoa and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals Nestabilities.
For this basket, I chose a center from the "Beautiful Blossoms" set by JustRite Stampers.  It is stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black, diecut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals and Scallop Ovals Nestabilities and colored with Copics.

Happy Anniversary

Good morning everyone.  Today I have a beautiful Anniversary card that I will be giving to my sister-in-law and her husband who will be celebrating their wedding anniversary on the 16th.

I knew that I wanted to make an elegant card but my elegant paper supply is very limited.  As I was going through my paper I found this beautiful white stitched paper from The Paper Company.  This paper is how I designed my color scheme.

For my sentiment, I chose a phrase from the "Romantic Sentiments" set by JustRite and diecut it using Spellbinders Classic Squares Nestabilities.  My border is from the "Decorative Frames Borders - Square" set, also by JustRite.
To stamp "Happy Anniversary" I took one of the demi phrases from the "Celebrations Demi Phrases" set (JustRite) and loaded it onto the rectangular wood stamper.  These demi phrases work well on this stamper and it saved me time from having to spell it out myself.  If there is a shortcut - I will usually find it.

ENABLER ALERT!!!  The square Decorative Frame that I used on my card is on sale at JustRite Stampers for the month of May along with some other really nice stamp sets.  Be sure to head over there and get your faves while they are on sale!!

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow.  I will have a cute project to go along with the Friday challenge over at JustRite Inspiration.

Bride and Groom Favor Boxes

Good Morning everyone.  It is that time of the year when there are going to be lots of weddings.  Everyone that I know is already married so I won't be going to any this year but still decided to do these cute favor boxes anyway.  They could also be used for an anniversary party.
These cute favor boxes are from AccuCut.  They are very easy to assemble.  The bride dress stands about 4" tall and the groom stands about 4 1/2" tall.
The dress was embossed using the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder.

My sentiment for the bride comes from the "Romantic Sentiments" set by JustRite.  The border comes from the "Decorative Frames Borders - Round" set also by JustRite.  It is stamped onto white cardstock, diecut with Spellbinders Petitie Scallop Circle Nestabilites.  I colored some Kaiser pearls with Copic and applied them around the border.

I clear embossed the lapels on the groom and bow tie.  The shirt has score lines to make it appear as a real shirt.  Black Kaiser pearls are applied as "buttons".
For the groom sentiment, I chose a center from the "Loving Thoughts" centers set by JustRite.  The border is from the "Decorative Frames Borders - Square" set also by JustRite.  It is stamped onto white cardstock, diecut with Spellbinders Squares Nestabilities.  I also colored some Kaiser pearls with Copics and applied around the corners.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great day!!

Supplies:

Paper:  DCWV

Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Lavender, Copic (G17)

Accessories:  Spellbinders Petite Scallop circle nestabilities, Spellbinders Square Nestabilities, Accucut Bride & Groom diecut, Kaiser Pearls, Prima flowers, clear embossing powder

Here is a look at this beautiful stamp set.  Perfect for those hard to make cards.
