Just A Note

Happy Hump Day!!! Today I have a very cute (and inexpensive) gift idea for you. I went shopping at Michaels yesterday (love that store!!). As I was passing by the dollar bin, these little note pads were jumping out at me. They had them in several different colors - purple, pink, blue - so of course I bought all of the colors. I knew that I could make them better. I loved the swirl design and the cutout look of the front.

So I grabbed my JustRite Stamps - I used the center & border from the Just A Note set. I stamped each separately and then diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circles & Labels Five.
I added Lavender Stickles to the dots and then added lavender ribbon. Very Simple!!!

Here is a closeup of the stamped image. It is hard to see but I used popdots to pop the "Just A Note" up off the darker purple cardstock.

That's it for today. Short & Simple because I have lots of chores to do today because I went shopping yesterday. A Woman's Work Is Never Done!!!!
Supplies:
Paper: DCWV
Ink: Versamagic Pretty Petunia
Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Circles & Labels Five, Lavender Stickles, ribbon, popdots

My Sunshine

Good Morning everyone. Today I am playing along with the sketch challenge at Caardvarks which is being sponsored by JustRite Stampers. Be sure to check it out and play along. There is a really nice prize package for the winner.

As I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do, I decided to use the sketch and do a Scrapbook page instead of a card. Sketches are very easy to adjust from card size to layout size.

When I saw the scallop border on this sketch I knew that the page needed a water photo. This photo is of my two daughters - Heather & Emily - last summer as we vacationed on Moosehead Lake in Maine. The water was calm and they looked so peaceful sitting on the dock looking over the lake. Even though there are 11 years age difference between them, they are amazingly close.

My scallop edge was made using the Martha Stewart Traditional Scallop border punch. Next I used the Bazzill In Stitch'z templates to stitch the vertical lines from the sketch.

For my sentiment, I chose the designer center from the Romantic Sentiments set by JustRite Stampers. The border is from the Round Decorative Frame Border set also by JustRite Stampers. The layers are diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle & Pinking Circle Nestabilities. I love how these stamp sets can be interchanged making endless possibilities.

The clouds were made using the Spellbinders Labels 6 and then embossed using the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder.

Aren't these little girl punches adorable!!! I'm not sure who makes the punch. I have had it for quite some time. I just thought that it fit the theme of my page perfectly.
To create my page title, I chose the Curlz Font Ensemble by JustRite Stampers. I seem to pull out this font more often than any other font. I just love the playful look of it.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. Have a wonderful day!!!

Happy New Year & Happy Birthday Heather

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
I hope everyone didn't do too much celebrating last night. I usually have a hard time staying awake until midnight. I have never been a night person. For the last several years, my daughter Heather has text messaged me right at the stroke of midnight to remind me that it is her birthday.

Today marks the 21st birthday of my daughter Heather. Heather was the New Year's Day baby in 1989. There were several of us in the hospital at the same time awaiting the births of our babies. I just happened to "push" first. Right from the beginning she was going to be difficult. After several hours of labor she was finally born via C-Section at 2:33 p.m. on January 1st. My labor pains began around midnight New Year's Eve!!!

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY HEATHER!!!!

I cannot believe that it has been 21 years since she was born. WOW, does time fly by fast. How is it possible that I am old enough to have a 21 year old daughter. She has grown into a very responsible adult. Going to college full time, making the dean's list, and working several jobs at the same time. Who would have thought that she would become a work-a-holic!!!

Today's project falls into many categories. First, it is a box with a birthday gift inside for Heather. I can't tell you what it is because she reads my blog and I won't be seeing her until tomorrow.

Second, it fits into Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge today which was to create a project using something NEW. My "new" is the box template by Lauren Meader. Lauren is realizing a dream come true by opening her own online store with her custom designed templates, stamps, and paper. She has an amazing talent. Be sure to check out her site My Time Made Easy for some amazing inspiration. The template that I used for my project is called "In A Pinch".

I printed the template onto orange cardstock, cut it out and put it together. I added pieces of Melon Twist Polished Stone paper (by Murdock Country Creations) around each side of my box.

To customize the box, I pulled out my JustRite stamps. The top portion of the sentiment "Guess What" is from the Celebrations Demi Phrases set. Then I used the Times Roman 15 point font for the bottom portion. The "21" is from the Times Roman 95 point font. These stamp sets make personalizing gifts so very easy. The center is diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities and the border is diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circle & Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

Around the top of the box, I used the Martha Stewart Loops Border punch to dress the top up a bit.

The back of the box needed to be dressed up too. To do this, I pulled out more JustRite Stamps. This set is called "Birthday Wishes". I stamped the center on orange cardstock, diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles. The border was stamped onto yellow cardstock and diecut using Spellbinders Scallop Circles.

I think this sentiment is perfect for someone hitting the big "21".
That's it for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I also hope that 2010 is a happy & prosperous year for everyone.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

You Hold The Key To My Heart

Good Morning everyone. We are preparing for yet another snowstorm. This time they are predicting over 1 foot of snow!!! I guess I know what I will be doing on Friday.
Today I decided to begin working on Valentine's Day projects. I can't believe that Christmas is over and I am now thinking about Valentine's Day. That means that warmer temperatures are coming **yeah**
I used my Cricut Expression and the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge to cut out my heart box. I used the "fit to page" option which makes the box measure 6" tall by 4 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" deep.

Next I used the Spellbinders Classic Hearts & Scallop Hearts to create several layers, each with popdots in between which makes the sentiment pop right off the box. For the handle, I used the Celebrations Demi Phrases by JustRite Stampers to stamp "I love you because...".
My key was cut from gold cardstock using my Quickutz Key Die. I have not used my Quickutz for so long. This is the very first die system that I purchased. So when I needed a key for my projects, I dusted off the Quickutz and found the perfect key. The key is hung from the handle using fishing line (don't tell my husband that I "borrowed" some of his line).
My main sentiment is from the Romantic Sentiments set by JustRite Stampers. This stamp set has some wonderful phrases, perfect for Valentine's Day.

That's it for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. And if you are on the East Coast, STAY WARM & SAFE.
Supplies:
Paper: DCWV
Ink: Memories Cherry Red
Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Hearts & Scallop Hearts Nestabilities, Quickutz Key, Cricut Expression, Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge, ribbon, popdots

Daffodils

Good Morning everyone. Today I am making a "sunny" card because here in Maine it has been snowing **again**. I needed a project to brighten my day.

I began by stamping daffodils from a new set being released by JustRite Stampers on February 7, 2010. It is called "Breath Of Spring" which is what I need right now as I look outside at the snow that needs to be shoveled. I colored the flowers using my Copics.

I diecut each layer using Spellbinders Classic Ovals & Scallop Oval Nestabilities. Each layer has popdots between to give lots of dimension. It almost looks like you are seeing the daffodils through a window. I used the Martha Stewart Loops border punch to create a "frame" for my image.

The photo below shows how much dimension my card has.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping in for a visit. I hope everyone enjoys your day.

Supplies:

Stamps: JustRite Stampers - Breath Of Spring Centers & Borders, 2 1/4" x 3 1/16" wood stamper

Paper: Worldwin

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rich Cocoa, Copic Markers (Y17, YR04, Y19, Y08, G05, G29, E29, E99)

Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Oval & Scallop Oval nestabilities, Martha Stewart Loops border punch, ribbon, popdots, Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder

Photo clock

Happy Monday morning everyone!!! I hope everyone survived your Christmas holiday. Our Christmas was very nice. Christmas Day is spent with my family at my parents and then on Saturday we had Christmas with my husband's family at our house. I really enjoyed getting together with family but I also was glad to have it over. All of the Christmas decorations are down and my house is back to normal.

I made this clock for my oldest daughter for Christmas. I wasn't able to post it before now because I didn't want her to see it. She actually reads my blog (Hi Heather :-D )

I just purchased a plain white clock, printed a photo of my 2 girls with Oreo (Heather's pet guinnea pig) and cut it to fit inside the clock. To make my clock numbers, I used the Curlz font ensemble by JustRite Stampers, stamped them onto acetate and punched them out using a SU circle punch. Then all I had to do was put the clock back together.

Heather really seemed to like the clock. This photo is so cute.

That's it for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

Supplies:

Stamps: JustRite Stampers - Curlz Font Ensemble

Paper: photo paper

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories: SU circle punch, acetate

Thank You notecard

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! The big day is finally here. We are enjoying the day with my family. It is so nice to have everyone together in one place. Tomorrow we will be celebrating Christmas with my husband's family. It is nice to be able to do this in 2 seperate days instead of craming everything into 1 day.

Once the presents are opened and everyone has gone home, it is time to send Thank You notes to family & friends for their thoughtfulness. Sharon Johnson is challenging us to create "simple" Thank You notes today. Regardless of if the note is simple or not, it is nice to show people that you appreciate their gifts.

My notecard measures 5" x 5" and is embossed using the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes embossing folder with a cute loopy border using the Martha Stewart loops border punch.

My sentiment comes from the "Just A Note" designer center set by JustRite Stampers. The border is from the Square Decorative Frame Borders set also by JustRite Stampers. It is so nice to be able to mix and match centers and borders even if they are not the same shapes. Then I diecut it using the Spellbinders Classic Square & Inverted Square Nestabilities.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today. I hope you enjoy your Christmas with family and friends. These times are very precious!!!
