Happy Birthday

Good morning everyone.  Today I have a special birthday card to share with you.  As of midnight December 31 my memories go back 22 years ago to the New Years Eve that I began to have labor pains with my daughter Heather.  She must have really wanted to come into this world but she held out until 2:33 p.m. on New Years Day.  And yes, I was in labor that entire time!!  She was the first baby born in our town in the year 1989.  She is now a Senior in college working toward a Masters Degree and 2 Bachelor Degrees.  She will complete all in December 2011.  She is very focused on school but can't wait to be done.  She has worked very hard and is on the Dean's list every semester.  We are extremely proud of her!!

I know many of you may be saying that this does not look like a card for a 22 year old but she is still my "little girl" no matter what her age.  I love this cute elephant - it is from the "Ellie Time" cling set by JustRite Stampers.  I stamped her onto gray cardstock and then handcut her out.  Then I stamped the image again onto striped paper, handcut just the vest and then adhered it to the elephant.  The small presents and cupcake are also from the "Ellie Time" set.  The larger present is from the "Just Ducky" cling set (JustRite).  Each of these were stamped onto white cardstock, colored with Copics and cut out.

To create my balloons, I used my Cricut Expression along with the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.  Next I used sentiments from the "Birthday Sentiments" set (JustRite) as well as the Curlz Numbers.  This is easily done with the Clear Stampers by JustRite.  The balloons are attached to the card with popdots.

Below is a look at the entire Cling stamp sets that I used to create this card.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve - please stay SAFE!!  Also here's to hoping for a great 2011!!!!

Forever Friends

Good morning everyone.  Today I have a really sweet card to share with you using the "Quiet Moments" cling stamp set by JustRite.  As soon as I saw this adorable image I knew that I wanted to create a card with it.  It reminded me so much of my two daughters - even though there is an 11 year age difference between them, they are just as close as this image portrays and I know that they are going to be "forever friends".

The image is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Labels 15.  Once again I used my new Copic Airbrush System to color the edge of my image.  To finish it off, I added Kaiser pearls.

The sentiment is stamped with Memento Tangelo and diecut with the new JustRite Custom Nested Frames Dies - a perfect match.  The wings are colored with Copics, handcut and placed on either side of the sentiment using pop dots.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Fairy Kisses

Good afternoon.  Sorry for the late post.  I did have this scheduled to go live at midnight last night but for some reason it did not work.  Oh well, technology!!

My card today uses one of the newest Cling stamp sets by JustRite Stampers called "Garden Fairy Wishes".  This set has some really adorable images and sentiments.

I stamped the fairy with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored her with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Big Scallop Ovals.  I also have some very exciting news!!  My husband bought me a Copic Airbrush System for Christmas and I used it on this card!!  I have wanted one of these for so long.  I airbrushed the light blue around the fairy and then masked her to airbrush the darker purple around the edge.  It was sooo much fun!!

The sentiment is also included in the Cling set.  I stamped it onto Murdock Country Creations Lemonade polished stone with Memento Grape Jelly and diecut it with the newly released JustRite custom dies called "Nested Frame Dies".  JustRite just never ceases to amaze me at what they come up with.  These Frame Dies are perfect for framing sentiments to make them "pop".

My card base is embossed with Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder.  The yellow edge was diecut with Spellbinders Grand 12" Classic Lace Border.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  I hope you have a great day!

A True Friend

NOTE:  I had this post scheduled to go live on Tuesday but for some reason it "disappeared".  I didn't realize this until I started getting ready to write up my post for tomorrow.  My post scheduled for today also "disappeared".

Good afternoon everyone.  Did all of you survive Christmas??  I did survive but it has been a very hectic few weeks.  I was very blessed during the holidays - it was spent with lots of family members.

My card today uses two of the newest Cling sets by JustRite Stampers.  One is called "Adorable Dragon" and the other is called "Simple Blessings".  This dragon is certainly adorable.  He was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ,colored with Copics and then handcut.  My sentiment is from the "Simple Blessings" set, stamped with Memento Grape Jelly and Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics.  I also sliced the dragon's hands a bit so that my sentiment could slide up against the dragon to make it look like he is holding it.
Here is a look at the complete sets used to make this card:

Merry Christmas Everyone

Merry Christmas to all of you.  I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know that I am still here.  This time of the year is always so crazy around here.  I have not even had time to go down to my studio for almost a week!!  And it doesn't appear to be getting any better in the next week.  I am volunteering at my daughter's school during their Christmas party, I have guests coming at the end of the week for Christmas, and I don't even have my Christmas shopping done yet!!!  I hope to get back on track after Christmas and start being creative again.

I would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and hope that everyone stays safe and warm.

Take care!

Teacher gifts

Good morning everyone.  Sorry I have been MIA for a while.  This time of the year is so hectic around here as I'm sure it is in every household!  I can't believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away.  I am not ready at all.  I used to have all of my Christmas shopping done and wrapped before Thanksgiving and now I don't even have my shopping done with only a few days left till Christmas.

One of the things on my to-do-list was to make teacher gifts for Emily to give out for Christmas.  I have 1/2 of them done which I am showing today.  I still have 4 more to do.  I like to give candles as gifts because almost everyone likes them.  I don't like to give just a "plain" candle so I came up with a cute little box to put them into.

I cut a piece of cardstock 6 1/2" x 6 1/2", scored each side at 2" and assembled the box.  The handle is a piece of cardstock 12" x 1".
I added decorative paper on the sides of the boxes to match the candle colors.  The same paper was used around the candle as well as on the top of the candle.

Now I am off to try and finish the other boxes.  I will hopefully get them done and post more photos tomorrow.

Have a great day!!

I was very excited to be asked to join this blog hop.  I have purchased many items from Scrap-Mart - their prices are very reasonable and the delivery is super fast.  I decided to make my yearly Christmas candle as my project for this hop.  I followed the very easy instructions found here at Splitcoast.
**EDIT**  I have received lots of comments regarding how to stamp onto the candle.  The process is not done by stamping directly onto the candle.  The stamping is done onto tissue paper and then applied to the candle by using a heat gun.
My stamped image is from the "Vintage Christmas" set by JustRite Stampers using Memento Tuxedo Black and Memento Lady Bug.  The date was made using the Curlz Numbers (JustRite).

To finish off my candle, I added lots and lots of lace on the top as well as the bottom of the candle.

Below is the list of blog hoppers participating today.  Be sure to check each one out and leave a comment.  You never know which one just might have a "surprise".

You Add Sparkle To My Day

Good morning everyone.  Before I begin my post I just want to remind you about the Scrap-Mart blog hop tomorrow.  There will be a great group of designers hopping and there will be prizes to be won so you won't want to miss it!

Photobucket

Now onto my card.  I decided to play with one of the new Cling sets by JustRite Stampers called "Garden Fairy Seeds".  All of these cling sets are so awesome - they are great for cardmaking but don't forget about scrapbooking - the sizes and phrases are perfect for scrapbook pages.  The great thing about cling is that they are versatile.  My floral border is a great example of the versatility.  This border is actually straight but because it is cling all I needed to do was place it onto my acrylic block in a half circle shape and stamp it twice to create my "round" border.  Isn't that great!!!

Next I stamped the cute little fairy using Memento Tuxedo Black, colored her with Copics and then diecut her with Spellbinders Labels One.  The mat directly under the fairy was diecut with Spellbinders Lacey Circles.  The yellow scalloped glittery mat was made using my Cricut Expression along with the Base Camp cartridge.  I added lots of Kaiser pearls which started out as white but I colored them to match my card using Copic Markers.  The sentiment is stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves and diecut with Spellbinders Lacey Circles, then tied to my bow.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for the Scrap-Mark blog hop.

Have a great day!!
