Justrite Friday Challenge - sketch_042

Good morning everyone.  Today I am playing along with the sketch challenge at JustRite.  I have included the great sketch below.  The sketch challenge is being sponsored by Inchie Arts - I have seen these "inchies" on several blogs but I had never tried them.  They are easy to use and gives projects some great dimension.

Here are the details on Inchie Arts:
Inchie Arts offers three different sizes of the highest quality artist grade matteboard squares: 1” (Inchie), 1-1/2” (Inchie +) and 2” (Twinchie).  All of their products are fade resistant, acid free, lignin free and solid core color through and through.  The material is designed to receive whatever art medium (wet or dry) you use in your coloring and embellishments - from stamping to watercolors, chalks, inks, pens, markers, stains and more.  They are available in black, dark gray, light gray, wheat, dark cream, ivory and white; as individual packages or assortment packs.

I am also using a sentiment from the new JustRite Cling set.
My designer paper is from the Ancestry.com Designer Paper stack as well as DCWV cardstock.  I created the wide border beneath my stamped image by using the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch.

The sketch called for a square image.  For this I used 2 different Inchie's.  On the larger Inchie, I stamped a border from the JustRite Decorative Frames Borders using Olive Versacolor, then I applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.  I used the Versacolor because it seemed to stay "wetter" long enough to apply the embossing powder.  For the sentiment, I stamped a sentiment from the "Simple Blessing" cling set onto a smaller Inchie that I cut to fit into the Decorative Frames Border.  Finally, I matted everything onto a brown mat diecut with Spellbinders Labels 15.

Here is a look at the complete "Simple Blessings" cling set:

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great weekend!!

JustRite 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop 8

Good morning everyone.  Today is another JustRite Christmas Blog Hop.  Here are the details:

Welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops 8! Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps! And don’t forget that JustRite has some Christmas stamps in their newly released CLING line of stamp sets -- you can find them HERE. This week, the designers joining the JustRite design team are the Flower Soft and The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog design teams! So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

For my project I decided to make an ornament for my Christmas tree this year. My Christmas tree has ONLY handmade ornaments. I think it gives such a personal look.

I thought of this as I was making my snowman box (shown here) a few weeks ago.  All I did was create an extra pyramid and adhered it to the bottom of the box.

The photo below shows one of the sides.  The bells are from the "Hearts Come Home" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders.

Here is a look at 2 other sides.  The tree is from the "From Our House" set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders.  The date was stamped using Curlz Number font.

This photo is a different angle showing the bells as well as a sentiment from "Hearts Come Home", stamped with Memento Danube Blue, and diecut with Spellbinders.

To add some bling, I applied Silver Stickles to all the seams which also helped cover them up. I also added some Kaiser rhinestones around the bottom portion.

Now be sure to check out all of the other amazing designers that will be hopping with us today.  The list is below:

The rectangular sentiments are from the "Victorian Nested Frames" set (JustRite), stamped with Memento Rose Red and Memento Cottage Ivy, handcut and adhered to plant markers.

JustRite Friday Challenge - Holiday Recipe Swap

Good morning everyone.  Today is Friday which means it's time for another great challenge over at JustRite.  This week the challenge is a Holiday Recipe Swap.  What could be better than combining my 2 favorite things to do - papercrafting and baking!!

My first recipe that I would like to share is for Peanut Butter Balls.  This is a recipe that I got from my mom.  She has made these at Christmas time for a really long time.  Now I also make them at Christmas.  The only time that I do make them is at Christmas so that they can be a special treat.  I, myself, do not like these (I don't like sweets) but everyone that I give them to as gifts say that they are really yummy!!!

I printed the recipe from the computer.  To embellish it, I used some JustRite Stamps.  In the upper righthand side, I used the "Recipe" set for the center and another border from the "What's Cookin" set, stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and Memento Bamboo Leaves, and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles and Petite Scallop Circles.  The other stamped image on the bottom is also from the "What's Cookin" set, stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

My second recipe is for Anginetti Italian Lemon Drop Cookies that I got from my mother-in-law.  Even though I technically don't like sweets, I could eat an entire batch of these cookies!!!  They are soooo yummy!!!

The stamped image in the upper righthand side is from the "Recipe" set as well as the "What's Cookin" set, stamped with the same ink and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles and Petite Scallop Circles.  The stamped image on the bottom is also from the "What's Cookin" set.

Now I needed something to "display" the recipe cards in so I made an apron book.  The aprons are diecut with the Accucut Die system.  Each page is covered with paper from  the K & Co SW Glad Tidings stack along with DCWV cardstock.  It was bound together with my Bind-it-all tool.

The front of my book uses 2 different JustRite stamp sets.  The top image is from "Holiday Cheer", stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles.  The green mat is diecut with Spellbinders Eyelet Circles.

The bottom image is from "Hearts Come Home", stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Squares.  The green mat is diecut with Spellbinders Lacey Squares.

This is the first 2 pages of my book.  Each page has a border that was created with the Martha Stewart Modern Garland Border Punch and green Stickles.  Each "blank" page has a row of felt gingerbread men with black Stickles for their eyes and buttons.

The stamped image on the first page is from the "Christmas Nested Sentiments" and "Christmas Nested Frames" sets, stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk & Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and then handcut.

The next 2 pages are shown below.  The left side has a stamped image from "From Our House", stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Squares and Labels One.  The right side has a stamped image from "Favorite Occasions" and "Decorative Round  Frame Borders", stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves and Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles and Petite Scallop Circles.

The next 2 pages show how the recipe cards would sit inside the pockets.  I didn't have time to create enough recipe cards for each pocket but will hopefully get to that soon.

The left side has stamped images from "Holiday Cheer", stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles.  The right side has a stamped image and border from "Christmas Nested Frames", stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics and handcut.

For the left side, I used a border and center from "Christmas Joy", stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and Memento Rhubarb Stalk, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals and Classic Scallop Ovals.  The right side has an image from "Hearts Come Home", stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Squares.

The pages below are the last 2 in my book.  The stamped image on the right is from "Something Sweet", stamped with Memento Rhubard Stalk and Memento Bamboo Leaves and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles and Petite Scallop Circles.

Well, that is it - I hope you enjoyed my cute apron book.  It was so much fun to create.  I also hope that you give the recipes a try and let me know how you liked them.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great weekend!!

The inspiration for my card comes from the bonus sketch by Regina Mangum over at  2Sketches4You.   The sketch fit perfectly into the stamps that I wanted to use for the Christmas Blog Hop today.

For my card, I used centers from "Hearts Come Home", stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and Memento Rhubarb Stalk, colored with Copics, and diecut with Spellbinders Lacey Squares.  The mat borders were made using the Martha Stewart Quilted Border Punch and then I added Kaiser pearls to spruce it up a bit.

Flowersoft Friday Challenge

Good morning everyone.  Today is Friday which means another great Friday challenge over at JustRite.  The challenge today is to create a Fall project and is being sponsored by Flowersoft.  I have only had my Flowersoft for a short while but I am loving it!!  It adds so much to my projects.

I decided to do a Fall scrapbook page today.  Last week I took my grandmother "leaf peeping" and had a really great time.  I have been saying for the last few years that I was going to take her but had never gotten around to doing it so this year I was determined to go.  She had a really good time too, she loves to drive around and just look at the scenery.

The paper that I chose is called "Fall Brilliance" by Murdock Country Creations.  This scenic paper is gorgeous and made my page very easy to do.  I added the Flower Soft to the trees.  Really makes them pop off the page.

For the top of the page, I used the JustRite Curlz Font to create my title and date.  Then I used a senitment from the Nature Nested Sentiments stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and diecut with Spellbinders Nested Maple Leaves.  I also inked around the edges with Memento Potters Clay
For the other sentiment I chose another center from the "Nature Nested Sentiments" and a border from "Give Thanks Nested Frames", colored with Copics and handcut.  I applied more Flowersoft to seperate the sentiment from the border.  It is a mixture of Toffee Flowersoft and Sage Flowersoft - nice combination.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Be sure to play along with the JustRite challenge - you could win a nice prize!!

Have a great weekend!!

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers - Nature Nested Sentiments, Give Thanks Nested Frames, Curlz Uppercase & Lowercase font, Clear Horizontal stamper

The JustRite Family is growing!!! JustRite is broadening their stamp offering this year with a brand new line of JustRite Cling Stamps.  These stamps are Deeply Etched Red Rubber and are made in the USA!!  Each set of cling stamps comes mounted to its own 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" storage panel that can be stored in their new Mini Binder Box. The image below shows the actual storage panel with beautifully colored images of the Cling Stamps.  This week JustRite is launching 5 Cling Sets -they are all available for ordering now on the JustRite website and will begin shipping this Friday Oct 15th.

The Cling stamp set - Sparky and Friends - below is what I used for my card today.

I had so much fun coloring Sparky and his friends!  They were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers.  Next I wanted to create a "window" effect so I cut the image into 1" squares and mounted them onto a black piece of cardstock.  I used the Martha Stewart Icicles border punch and Martha Stewart glitter to create my icicles.

My sentiment comes from another great JustRite stamp set called "Christmas Nested Sentiments", stamped with Memento Danube Blue and diecut with Spellbinders Double Ended Tags.  Have I mentioned before how well JustRite Stamps and Spellbinders work together - total must haves!!!

Below is a look at the complete "Christmas Nested Sentiments" set.  Perfect for cardmakers and scrapbookers alike!

Below is a complete list of talented designers that are hopping today.  Be sure to check them out and leave some nice comments.  We all really appreciate your comments - it lets us know that our passion for papercrafting is appreciated by others.

Purple Lilacs

Good morning everyone.  Today I am trying a new technique called "Crimped Diamond" that was demonstrated on Splitcoast.  I had never seen this done before but the effect is really cool and it was really easy to do.

I used some shiny purple paper to do the crimped portion.  I think  it really pops on the card.  The white diamond was embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The lilac image (stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black) along with the border (stamped with Memento Grape Jelly) are from the "Thinking Of You" set (JustRite), colored with Copics and diecut with Spellbinders Deckled Edge Ovals.  I applied some Lavender Flower Soft to the lilacs to give it some dimension.  I've only had my Flowersoft products for a few days but I am LOVING it!!!

My sentiment is from the "Seeds Of Kindness" (JustRite), stamped with Memento Grape Jelly and diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles & Petite Scallop Circles.  The butterfly is the Martha Stewart Classic Butterfly punch.

Be sure to stop in tomorrow for Week # 6 of the JustRite 12 Weeks Of Christmas Blog Hops.  It will be another amazing week.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday - Make A Wish

Good morning everyone.  Today I am playing along with 2 challenges -  the sketch challenge over at CPS (see below) as well as the "Birthday" challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Double dipping with one card!!

Here is a look at the sketch.  When I first saw the sketch I thought that it would be fun and easy.  I WAS SO WRONG!!  I struggled for hours with this sketch!!  I just couldn't decide on what type of card I wanted to make.  Finally I decided on a birthday card and just "went for it"!!  I think it came out really nice after all the frustration.
I chose sentiments from 2 different JustRite stamp sets - All Occasions Nested Sentiments ("Happy Birthday" stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves) and Cherish The Memories Nested Sentiments ("Make A Wish" stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa).  I also used several Spellbinders Dies to create all of the layers (Long Rectangles, Long Scallop Rectangles, Mega Classic Scallop Ovals, and Mega Ovals).
I embossed the ivory mats with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I also used the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch for the top edge and bottom edge.  The flower was white so I inked it with Memento Dandelion to give it some color.  I wanted to add some Kaiser pearls but all I had were white so I colored them with an E29 Copic marker.

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great day!!

Supplies:

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers - Cherish The Memories Nested Sentiments, All Occasions Nested Sentiments, Clear Horizontal Stamper

Paper:  K & Co, DCWV cardstock

Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Memento Bamboo Leaves, Memento Dandelion,  Copic marker E29

Accessories:  Spellbinders - Mega Classic Scallop Ovals, Mega Ovals, Long Rectangles, Long Scallop Rectangles, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch, Kaiser pearls, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

JRC_039 Give Thanks

Good morning.  It is Friday which means another great Friday challenge over at JustRite.  This challenge is to create something for Thanksgiving and  it is being sponsored by Spellbinders.  A challenge using Spellbinders is NOT a challenge for me - I love my nesties!!!

Thanksgiving is approaching VERY fast.  Here in Maine the leaves have all changed colors and are falling to the ground - which means it is almost time to rake!!!  Not my favorite Fall activity but it has to get done.

When I saw the tutorial this week over at Splitcoast to create a laced luminaria I decided to give it a try.  I've never made one but the instructions were really easy to follow.  I also had purchased some 4" paper coasters from Ebay about a year ago and have never done anything with them (what a shocker!!) so this was the perfect project.

To begin, I covered my coasters with paper from American Traditions Designs.  Then I decided to use Spellbinders Labels 1 to create the openings in the luminaria.  The dies cut through the coasters just like butter!!  Then I created the dark brown frame by placing 2 nested Labels 1 together and diecut.

My stamped image is from the "Give Thanks Nested Frames" set by JustRite. I stamped the sentiment and borders onto acetate using black StazOn. Once dried I colored it with Copics (color on the BACK side of the stamped image - otherwise the Copics with remove the StazOn).  I cut it to fit on the backside of the coaster and then applied a piece of vellum  to the back of the stamped image.

Once all of the sides were diecut, stamped, colored, and applied, it was time to lace up the box.  To finish the box, I adhered the top portion to another paper coaster and added some gold cording around the edges.

These 2 photos show what the luminaria looked like once I lit it up.  I didn't happen to have a battery operated candle so I did use a tealight but it is not recommended.  I just wanted to show what it looked like lit up so I will be getting a battery operated candle before Thanksgiving.

Below is a photo of the entire "Give Thanks Nested Frames" stamp set.  Perfect for creating decor for your Thanksgiving dinner table.

That's it for today.  Thanks so much for stopping in for a visit.  Have a great weekend!!

Supplies:

Paper:  American Traditions Designs - Autumn Plaid, DCWV cardstock

Ink:  Black StazOn, Copic Markers (YR18, R59, R29, E18, G29, E29, Y19)

Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels 1, vellum, acetate, paper coasters, ribbon, gold cording

JustRite 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop #5

Good morning everyone and welcome to Week #5 of the JustRite 12 Weeks Of Christmas Blog Hops.  We are not even 1/2 way through and my head is spinning with lots of great Christmas ideas.  This week is going to be more of the same amazing creations.

Here are the details:

Welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops #5! Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps! This week, it’s the Stamp Simply design team! So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

My card today uses the Vintage Santa from the "Vintage Christmas" set.  He is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, diecut with Spellbinders Octagons, colored with Copic Markers, and  Polar White Flower Soft added to his hat brim and pom pom.  The sentiment border was stamped with Memento Danube Blue, diecut with Spellbinders Classic Inverted Scallop Circles, colored with Copics. I also added some yellow Stickles around the edges.

This card is the perfect example of how well the Spellbinders dies match up with the JustRite Stamps.  The dies make terrific mat layers for cards.  My philosophy is "more layers = better cards!!"

Below is a look at the entire Vintage Christmas stamp set.

CPS Sketch 187

Good morning everyone.  Today I am playing along with the CPS sketch challenge.  You can check it out by going to their blog here.

My designer paper as well as the cardstock is from the DCWV Linen Closet Stacks.  The corner embellishments are from Spellbinders Eyelets Pendant set.  The blue mat is Spellbinders Eyelet Circles.  The other mats as well as the sentiment was diecut with Spellbinders Classic Circles.  The sentiment is from the "Birthday Wishes" set by JustRite.

Sorry for the short post today.  Today I am taking my grandmother "leaf peeping" in the Western Maine Mountains.  They are at peak right now and the weather is suppose to be nice and clear today.  I have been saying for a few years that I was going to do this but things always seem to come up so this year I decided to "just do it".

Be sure to check back tomorrow for week # 5 of the JustRite Christmas Blog hop.  Another week of great inspiration!!

Thanks for stopping in for a visit today.  Have a great day!

JR_037 --- Holiday 3-D Challenge

Good morning everyone.  It is Friday which means it is time for another awesome JustRite challenge.  The challenge today is sponsored by Copic (love my Copics!!!)  I think my favorite thing to do is to create 3-D projects.  I love taking a flat piece of paper and creating a beautiful home decoration piece.  Today is no different.  With the help of my Cricut Expression (Love my bug!!!), I created a cute Thanksgiving/Fall centerpiece for my dinner table.

I have had this idea in my head ever since I purchased the Paper Doll Dressup cartridge.  So when I saw the challenge for this week I knew exactly what I was going to do.

Each of the paper dolls is cut at 5 1/2". The faces are stamped with Peachy Keen face stamps (I couldn't draw a face if my life depended on it!!!)  so I grab my face stamps all the time.

The pumpkins were created with Spellbinders Classic Scallop Circles (5 circles for each pumpkin) folded in half and glued together.

For my sentiment, I chose a border and center from the "Give Thanks Nested Frames" set (JustRite), stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copic Markers, and handcut.

Below is a look at the complete "Give Thanks" stamp set.  This set is perfect for those Thanksgiving Dinner scrapbook pages or the Leaf raking pages.  Don't limit stamping to just cards - the uses are unlimited.
