Thinking Of You

Today I am playing along with Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge which is to use lace in your project. These challenges are so much fun to play along with. Sharon really gets you thinking. Check it out here:

For this card I chose the center from the new Thinking of You set from JustRite Stampers. This set has lots of nice borders & centers that can be used for any occasion.

I stamped my image onto Neenah white cardstock using Memento Black Tuxedo. Then I colored the flowers with Copic Markers. I used the Spellbinders Labels Four to diecut the image as well as the blue mat. I think the Labels Four has become my favorite set. To add a bit of "pop" to my image, I chalked the edges with blue pearlescent chalk by Pepples, Inc. Each layer is adhered to the next using pop dots for extra dimension.
The bottom portion of my card has a layer of blue/brown polka dot paper from DCWV. Then I added my wide lace from Offray. To add a bit of color, I chose yellow polka dot ribbon to lay through the middle of my lace. The flowers are from Creative Impressions and I added some Kaiser pearls to the centers.
Now as I was looking at my "finished" card, the little voice in the back of my head (thanks Kellie) said to always do 1 more step. That is when I decided to add Kaiser rhinestones to the top and bottom edges of the lace.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit. Be sure to check back sometime over the weekend because I will be having blog candy to celebrate my first week as a blogger.

Decorative Paper Clips

Today on Splitcoaststampers, the "Ways To Use It" challenge is to incorporate office supplies into your project. Check out the challenge here:

I wasn't sure what I was going to use until I came across these jumbo paperclips that I bought at Wal-mart. I think I only paid .97 for the package of 15. It was one of those purchases that I wasn't sure what I was going to use them for but "needed" to buy them.

For my stamped images, I chose the "Tiny Words" set from JustRite Stampers. These stamps are the perfect size for these paperclips because they only measure 1 3/16".

For each paperclip, the images are stamped twice so that I had a front and back to the paperclip. Here is the breakdown for each paperclip:

"Top Secret" - I stamped the center image onto white cardstock using Versamagic Pumpkin Spice and the border was stamped using Versamagic Jumbo Java. The center was diecut using the 1" SU circle punch. Each additional layer was diecut using Spellbinders Pinking Circles. Adhere all of the layers together. Then I took a 1/2" gluedot and placed it onto the top portion of the paperclip and then adhered the layered images onto the paperclip.

I thought this paperclip would be perfect for the a boy to use it in his "secret" journals. How about for your little girl's diary. Lots of possibilities.

"Don't Peek" - I stamped the center image onto white cardstock using Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy and the border was stamped using Versamagic Red Magic. The center was diecut using the 1" SU circle punch. The border was diecut using Spellbinders Classic Circles. The red layer was diecut using Spellbinders Labels Two. Attach to the paper clip as described above.

This paperclip is perfect for someone who is reading a book that you "really" want to read but will have to wait for your turn.

"Have Faith" - I stamped the center image onto white cardstock using Versamagic Tea Leaves and the border was stamped using Versamagic Purple Hydrangea. The center was diecut using the 1" SU circle punch. Each additional layer was diecut using Spellbinders Petite Scallop Circles. Attach to the paper clip as described above.

This paperclip would be perfect for a Sunday School teacher to mark those special Bible verses that they want to remember. This would also make the perfect gift for my Grandmother.

The ideas are endless with these paperclips. Perfect things to have on hand for when you need that quick gift.

You Are My Reason

This is my second post for today, but I really wanted to play along with the sketch on SCS today. This card was very simple to create and used very little supplies.

My card size is 5" x 7". I cut 2 strips of white cardstock approximately 2 1/4" x 4 1/2". Then I cut the polished stone approximately 2" x 4 1/4". The focal point of the card is not even a stamped image!! It is paper from Murdock Country Creations called Pemaquid Rocks. That image is cut approximately 5" x 2 1/4" then matted onto white & blue cardstock.

After I assembled the card according to the sketch, I placed each individual shell along the bottom corner of the card.

My verbiage is from Autumn Leaves - ticketed. It is stamped onto gray cardstock using Versamagic Night Sky ink.

That's it!!! Very simple card.

Thanks for stopping in today. I am really having fun with this blog thing. I have not left my stamping room for 3 days but who needs to eat!!!!

Supplies:

Stamps: Autumn Leaves - ticketed

Paper: Murdock Country Creations - Pemaquid Rocks, Jack Frost Polished Stone

Autumn Blessings Basket

I had the pleasure of being the guest blogger on JustRite Stampers yesterday. Kellie is at the CHA show in Orlando and I am stuck at home. So I have been busy creating projects to post on my new blog.
I made this Autumn Blessings Basket for Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge . The challenge was to use fruit in your project. I am having so much fun playing along with Sharon's challenges. She really gets me thinking. Thanks Sharon!!

To make this basket, I started with a wonderful template by Lauren Meader called My Timeless Templates Pack a Picnic which can be purchased at Papertrey Ink. All you have to do is download the template and instructions, print them onto cardstock of your choice, cut them out and assemble. The instructions are very easy to follow. Lauren also has a great blog which is full of inspiration. You can find it here.

I made the top rim of the basket by using the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch, Then I cut strips of Kelly Green/Yellow Plaid paper (Hot off the Press) and adhered them to the top and bottom edge of the rim. The green & red apples are cut using my Cricut Expression and the Makin' The Grade cartridge. Each apple is popdotted to give some dimension. I also cut a strip of the Kelly Green/yellow Plaid paper and adhered it to the basket handle.

Next, I chose the apple basket stamp from the new Autumn Blessings Borders & Centers set by JustRite Stampers. This set is full of great colorable images. I am fairly new to this coloring thing (I never was much of a colorer even when I was little). I am beginning to enjoy it though since I purchased some Copic markers. These markers don't leave start/stop lines when you are coloring. I stamped the image onto Neenah white cardstock using Memento Black Tuxedo ink. Then I colored the image with my Copics. I diecut the stamped image using Spellbinders Labels One and diecut a mat from the Kelly Green/Yellow Plaid paper. Each layer has popdots to give some dimension.

To finish off the basket, I cut narrow strips of white cardstock and adhered them to the bottom edges of the basket.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!!!!

Birthday Girl

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love anything Paisley. This paisley design is from Doodlebug Designs - Cherry Chocolate Paisley. The colors in this design work so well together. The card base measures 5" x 5". Each paisley square measures approximately 2 1/4" x 2 1/4".

I CASE'd this card sketch from Denise's (peanutbee) post here. When I read her blog, I knew that I had to make a card with this sketch. It is so simple yet beautiful.

My stamped phrase is from the Birthday Wishes set from JustRite Stampers. I chose to use only the center however this set also has some really nice borders. I stamped the phrase using Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid. I then diecut it using the Spellbinders Pinking Circles Nestabilities. Each mat is also cut using the Pinking Circle Nestabilities. Each mat is adhered to the next one using popdots to give dimension to my card.

To finish my card, I added Kaiser rhinestones to the stamped phrase as well as two corners of the card.

There you have it, a simple and beautiful birthday card.

Disney Autograph Book

Our family went to Disneyworld in Orlando in March. We had so much fun. When we were planning our trip I shopped around for autograph books for my girls to take for all the characters to sign. All of the books that I found were either too expensive or too small. That's when I decided to make my own. I bought 2 index card booklets for the autographs. As each girl met a character they had them sign their booklets.

When we got home, I went to work creating the autograph books.

To create the covers, I cut 2 pieces of chipboard 6" x 6 1/2" and covered them with Something Sweet Stripes from Stemma. The castle, grass & title were all cut using my Cricut Expression and the Paper Dolls Dress Up Cartridge.

I had to determine how many pages I needed for each book and then I diecut the pages from Ivory cardstock using the AccuCut GrandeMARK Roller Die Cutting System along with the Album Tabs die. The pages measure approximately 6" x 6 1/2". I chose the designer paper for each page and adhered it to the cardstock. Each photo and autograph is matted onto corresponding polished stone paper.

For each tab, I stamped the name of the character that was in the picture. For this I used the JustRite Stampers Times Roman Font upper & lower case and then cut is out using the Stampin Up punch word window punch.

The final step is to take the Zutter Bind-it-all and some black wire and bind it all together.

My girls were very excited to see the completed books. Now they will have something to look back at to remember their very first Disney adventure.
Supplies:
Paper: Stemma - Something Sweet Stripes
DCWV - variety of stack packs
Ink: Versamagic
Accessories: Accucut GrandMARK Roller Die Cutting System with Album Tab die, Zutter Bind-it-all, Cricut Expression with Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge, SU Word window punch,

Welcome to my first post!!!

Welcome to my first blog post. After 2 years of reading everyone else's blogs, I have decided to create my own blog. I wonder if I really know what I have gotten myself into!!

For my first official post I chose this card. My card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I added a layer of white cardstock and then another layer of black cardstock which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder. This card uses the new Thinking of You Borders & Centers set from JustRite Stampers. I stamped the center image and the border image onto white cardstock using Brilliance Graphite Black ink. Then the images were diecut using Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestabilities. I then diecut a white mat using the Spellbinders Labels Four die. Each layer is pop dotted. Next I cut a strip of white paper using the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch and added some polka dot ribbon along the top edge. Add some Kaiser white & black pearls and the card is done.

Well, there you have it. I am now official which means I had better get to work creating projects for my blog. I will have no excuses now.
